take a writing vacation in beautiful dubrovnik

This workshop is for women who want to take a transformative journey - one that will focus on claiming your voice as a writer and furthering your chosen writing project. Set within an inspiring location, you will write every day, and you will deepen your writing craft by learning new techniques. You'll also enjoy the support of other women writers who are just excited as you about writing! The backdrop for the workshop is world-famous Dubrovnik and Cavtat, filled with churches, castles and gastronomic delights! We'll sample a bit of everything to feed our work.

The backdrop for the workshop is world-famous Dubrovnik, filled with churches, castle and gastronomic delights! We'll sample a bit of everything.

Mornings will be spent learning the craft of writing and applying it to your chosen writing project. Afternoons will be for working on your own writing and workshopping it with the group (if you're ready). On two of the afternoons, we will travel around Dubrovnik - visiting historic places. You'll end the week having made significant progress on outlining a new book, writing a few chapters, having done research, or feeling completely invigorated by refining your writing craft.

You'll be guided by Allison Quaid, a skilled writing coach, and you'll find yourself in the supportive company of other women writers.

Imagine...a whole week dedicated to you and your writing! All writers at any level of experience are welcome, even if you’re not yet calling yourself a writer.

We specialize in first-time writers, those who have a book in them that is yearning to come out, but might not have started yet.

All you need is the desire to write and a willingness to allow the writing to happen.

Retreat Location

We've chosen Cavtat, a seaside village in Croatia, filled with sunny views of the ocean, gourmet restaurants and a historic village, as it has the quaint, quiet and inspiring atmosphere conducive to writing.  It is only a stone's throw from Dubrovnik, known for its distinctive Old Town, encircled with massive stone walls completed in the 16th century. Its well-preserved buildings range from baroque St. Blaise Church to Renaissance Sponza Palace and Gothic Rector’s Palace, now a history museum. Paved with limestone, the pedestrianized Stradun (or Placa) is lined with shops and restaurants.

We'll stay in a 17th century villa in Cavtat, right in the heart of the village, and take two day trips to the bustling city of Dubrovnik. Address and directions will be provided following registration.
