I'm feeling anxious and excited because signing up for a workshop is a big investment of time and money. Should I do it?

Almost everyone asks themselves this question somewhere along the process of signing up for a retreat and arriving at their destination. We feel the same when we sign up for a retreat. Take a deep exhale and pat yourself on the back for even considering a week away dedicated to YOU.  If you are both excited and scared, this is a good sign that you are headed in the right direction toward whatever it is you most want. Our retreat leaders are trusted, seasoned facilitators who will give you the support, resources and guidance to reach your goals--you just have to show up and participate! Do I need creative writing experience for the writing retreats?

While some of the retreats are more writing intensive than others, creative writing experience is not required of any of them. If you are new to creative writing, we would steer you toward the Claim Your Voice, Literary Adventures, or Write a Book, Rewrite Your Life retreats, but you would be welcome and made comfortable at any of our retreats.

How do I schedule my flight?

Once your registration has been confirmed (wait for a confirmation email letting you know that the retreat has enough sign-ups since we need a minimum amount of registrants), we encourage you to use an online flight-searching program to find the least expensive options. There are a lot of good ones out there, but we find that Skyscanner, Google Flights, and Kayak are consistently good. If traveling within Europe, search Easyjet and Ryanair for cheap flights which don't always get picked up on the search engines listed above. We do recommend travel insurance. We’ve had good experiences with both Allianz Global and Travelex, but do not endorse either.

Every workshop description ends with a list of the nearest airports and directions for getting from the airport to the retreat. If joining us on a retreat requires you to fly over multiple time zones, we encourage you to fly in a day early so you can relax and catch up with the time difference before joining us on our retreat the following day.

How do I get from the airport to the retreat location?

Many of our participants like to car pool or share travel expenses with other registrants. Let us know if you are interested, and we will connect you over email so that you can coordinate with them.

What should I pack?

While every workshop description includes a description of the average weather during that period, we recommend you pack to your comfort level, including packing your favorite toiletries, a warm sweater, a swimsuit, and comfortable walking shoes. We always try to have one fun night out on the town.

Can I travel with a friend?

Yes, please! The more the merrier. If your friend is not also signing up for the retreat (and we hope they are), then you would need to reserve one of the off-site hotel rooms rather than the villa as the villa space is always limited. Afternoons and some evenings are designated exploration time, so you would have the opportunity to see the sites with whomever you chose.

What if I want to extend my stay before or after the retreat?

What a lovely idea, especially since you’ve already paid to travel somewhere. We will provide convenient, low-cost hotel recommendations with all of our retreats, located on the retreat description page. 

What is your cancellation policy?

If you have to cancel: Because we are a small operation we are so sorry that we're unable to offer refunds in the case of cancellation, which is why we strongly recommend you purchase travel insurance. We are able to transfer your spot in the retreat to another person that you designate, or to apply your registration fee to a future workshop that must be designated at the time of cancellation.  

If we have to cancel: We require a minimum of five participants for each retreat, and if we have to cancel 45 days beforehand, then we will refund 100% of your registration fee. Please do not purchase your plane ticket until the retreat is confirmed. You will receive a confirmation email upon registration acknowledging your payment, and you will receive a final confirmation email once we have met the minimum number of registrants indicating that you should book your airfare.

Can I retake a retreat that I’ve already participated in?

Yes! Allison and Jessie continually update their curriculum to stay current with research and best practices. In addition, we all process information differently depending on where we are at in life. Since all our retreats are designed to meet you where you’re at and take you to the next level, you will gain insight and learning not matter how many times you join us.

Can I request a location for a future retreat?

We would love that. We’re always looking for the most beautiful, inspiring, and magical spots to replenish ourselves and celebrate. If you have any suggestions, please shoot us an email.

Is there a discount for large parties, say a group of friends who want to get away for the most amazing, memorable vacation of their lives?

Sounds like a great plan. Parties of three or more receive a 10% discount on the total cost of the retreat if it’s paid for as a single unit. Email for more information.

Are meals included?

It depends on the retreat, but most of them include a healthy, delicious breakfast and lunch. Gluten-free and vegetarian options will always be made available. View the retreat description page for more information.
