take a literary adventure in paris while you work on your own book

Finally start that writing project that's burning inside you cheered on by the spirits of the iconoclastic women writers who called Paris home. From Anais Nin to Simone de Beauvoir, be inspired by the writings of these legendary women writers. Mornings will be filled with creativity sprints and writing technique sessions and afternoons will be filled with literary tours around Paris and free writing time. Leave refreshed, refocused, and having made progress on that novel, blog, article or poem that is waiting to be written. Join us: Laugh. Create. Connect. Thrive!

Set within the inspiring city of Paris, you will write every day, and you will deepen your writing craft by learning new techniques.

Mornings will be spent studying the craft of writing and applying it to your chosen project. Any writing project is applicable - novels, memoirs, poems, blogs, business books or a leadership thought piece.  Afternoons will be for working on your own writing and workshopping with the group (to your comfort level). On three of the afternoons, we will travel around Paris - visiting the places that famous women writers wrote and lived at. You'll end the week having made significant progress on outlining a new book, writing a few chapters, having done research, or feeling completely invigorated by refining your writing craft.

Our week will be peppered with readings by the iconoclastic women writers who called Paris home - Gertrude Stein, Anais Nin, George Sand, and Simone de Beauvior. You'll see Paris through their eyes and be inspired by their powerful words.

You'll be guided by Allison Quaid, a skilled writing coach, and you'll find yourself in the supportive company of other women writers.

Imagine...a whole week dedicated to you and your writing! All writers at any level of experience are welcome, even if you’re not yet calling yourself a writer.

We specialize in first-time writers, those who have a book in them that is yearning to come out, but might not have started yet.

All you need is the desire to write and a willingness to allow the writing to happen.

Parisian Writers

"The true traveler is she who goes on foot, and even then, she sits down a lot of the time." -- Colette, Paris From My Window

"We cannot tear a single page from our life, but we can throw the whole book into the fire." - George Sand

"I tore myself away from the safe comfort of certainties through my love of truth - and truth rewarded me." - Simone de Beauvoir

"When one is pretending the entire body revolts." Anais Nin, Winter of Artifice

"Of course I think of the past and of Paris, what else is there to remember?" - Djuna Barnes

"Art for the sake of truth, for the sake of what is beautiful and good - that is the creed I seek." - George Sand

"Self-knowledge is no guarantee of happiness, but it is on the side of happiness and can supply the courage to fight for it." - Simone de Beauvoir

“When I made the decision to attend the women’s writing retreat in Italy, I lacked confidence, was fearful and questioned my value as a woman and most as a writer. I was immediately drawn to Allison by her genuine warmth, sincere interest in the heart of women and her ability to draw out potential and creativity. She gave me tasks that helped me map out what was keeping my artistic side blocked and gently broke through the fear that kept me from writing. Allison possesses a vulnerability, strength of character and sense of humor that makes her a perfect facilitator. This solo journey and being coached by Allison has brought me tremendous growth, confidence and a sense of purpose that has changed me forever.” — Lori Ann d.
"I found Allison’s feedback so encouraging and uplifting and appreciated the tips to go deeper into the character, the history, the sensory impressions, and the emotions. She intuitively knows those vulnerable moments and is open for them. I liked that.”
— Sara H., Germany
"As a writing coach, Allison brings the ideal mix of practical guidance, cheerleader and coach! She helped me make sense of a complex story by providing a structure, created accountability to keep me going, and also provided great suggestions for getting around blocks. Her passion for writing, reading and publishing women’s stories is contagious and has set my brain on fire with ideas.”
— Jodi K., Oct, 2016 Women Writing Italy Retreat
